my story
I took my first yoga class thirteen years ago on a whim in college. This was the first time I paid attention to the quality of my breath and how it changed my mind and body.
I never forgot that experience and several years later, I began to practice yoga more regularly. The more I practiced, the more I noticed patterns in my life that were hurting me mentally and physically. As a result, I made more appropriate changes in my relationships, diet, and thoughts about myself and others.

After 7 years of regular practice and ongoing change, I knew I wanted to share yoga with others and help them experience these same benefits. In 2013, I completed my 200 hour teacher certification and began teaching studio, private, and corporate classes. One year later, I found the practice of Ashtanga yoga. Its focus on breath and posture technique as well as meditation and self-study helped me become more present in my yoga practice and process the changes of life with more ease outside of practice. I began to share this method with my students in 2014.
In 2016, I decided to learn Ashtanga yoga from the source. I traveled to India to attend the K. Pattahbi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India where I studied with R. Saraswati Jois for three months. This experience is one of the great joys of my life. Being immersed in physical yoga practice, chanting, philosophy, and sanskrit bolstered my desire to share the healing power of Ashtanga yoga and gave me more anatomical and philosophical knowledge to share with students.
To further my knowledge, I have also taken workshops with Ashtanga teachers such as David Swenson, Taylor Hunt, Kino MacGregor, and David Garrigues.
Each day is a new practice, and I try to live by a quote from David Swenson who says, “A yogi is one who leaves a place just a little nicer than when they arrived!”

When I am not teaching or practicing yoga, I enjoy traveling, cooking, exploring natural wonders, teaching English as a Second Language, and cuddling my two cats, Jay-Z and Beyonce.
